Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 13, 2026
Overview
Wott ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that tracks how much time you spend on each website. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is stored, and how it is used.
Data We Collect
The Extension collects the following data while you browse:
- URLs of pages you visit (domain name and page path)
- Page titles and favicons
- Time spent on each page
- Number of visits (sessions) per page
- Your domain blocklist (if signed in)
If you sign in with your Google account, we also receive your Google profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) for authentication purposes.
How Data Is Stored
All usage data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local).
If you sign in, your usage data is also synced to our server (wott.tetsuya28.com) so you can access your data across devices. This sync happens periodically and when you navigate between pages. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, transfer, or share your data with any third parties. If you are not signed in, your browsing data never leaves your browser. If you are signed in, data is only transmitted to our own server for sync purposes.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each for a specific purpose:
- tabs — Detect which website you are viewing and when you switch tabs.
- activeTab — Access the URL and title of the currently active tab.
- idle — Detect when you are idle or have locked your screen, so inactive time is not counted.
- storage — Save usage data locally on your device.
- alarms — Periodically save tracking data to prevent data loss when the browser suspends the background process.
- identity — Sign in with your Google account for optional server sync.
Remote Code
The Extension does not load or execute any remotely hosted code. All code is bundled within the extension package.
Data Retention
Local data is stored for as long as the Extension is installed. You can clear local data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage. If you have signed in, server-side data can be deleted by contacting us at wott@tetsuya28.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
